Measured Response:Biden to Putin - April 2022

I worked with a 6” grid making this piece, mirroring the sculpture I created in the left panel on the right one. In considering what different types of human responses might look like, I had made the hopeful assumption that a measured response, one that is carefully considered, would create something symmetrical and beautiful, like a butterfly’s wings. But during production I realized I was wrong. This work doesn’t account for the time to emotionally, intellectually and psychologically digest, to contemplate and consider before responding, nor does it account for our individual differences as unique. And finally, this piece didn't take into account the type of stimulus and the type of response. If it had, in a measured response it would seem the sculpture on the right panel would be the same intensity but different compositionally to the sculpture on the left panel. It is in these conceptualized experiments, the subsequent making and the anaylsis, that art can be a vehicle for transformation.
